- In this particular case, I suspect that the problem is in the modem. I think
- - but don't recall for sure - that round-LED Courier 14.4 modems were limited
- to 38400 bps DTE speeds.

- Oh, and to correct a myth that I see hinted in your message (and to be picky):
- you can set the DTE as high as 115200 bps on an XT but may experience overrun
- errors if the system - especially device drivers and multitaskers - interfere
- with the CPU's ability to respond to interrupts quickly and consistently. In
- particular, a friend has a Courier 33.6 running at 115200 bps DTE on an old
- (practically scrap) 386SX. We use a 16550A UART to overcome the nasty timing
- problems created by the NE2000 (ethernet card) drivers.
